Introduction
This project was a full UI/UX redesign of a client-facing property inspection portal — a platform used daily by teams managing buildings, inspections, and reports. The existing interface had been built up over time without a coherent design system, leaving users with a cluttered, frustrating experience. The client needed a clean, modern redesign that simplified navigation, prioritised the right workflows, and set a scalable foundation for the platform’s future growth — all built in Figma following Material 3 design principles.
Challenge
The previous interface was working against its users at almost every turn. Cards were bloated with irrelevant information. Navigation was structured around apartments rather than inspections — despite inspections being the platform’s primary workflow. Confusing red icons created unnecessary visual noise. The header and footer were cluttered with repetitive links. Filtering was minimal and ineffective. The result was a UI that slowed teams down instead of helping them work. The challenge was to untangle all of this without disrupting the core functionality the client already relied on.
Approach
The redesign followed a structured design thinking process — starting with a thorough analysis of the existing UI and a close collaboration with the client to understand how their teams actually used the platform day-to-day. The core insight was clear: inspections needed to lead, not apartments. Navigation was restructured around the real user workflow — Buildings, Inspections, Reports — in that order. Visual noise was stripped back: icons were simplified and made purposeful, cards were streamlined to surface only what mattered, and a sidebar pop-out feature was introduced for fast, contextual navigation. Every iteration was refined based on direct client feedback, resulting in a final design that felt both immediately intuitive and built to scale.
